#Repost @dhayani_yoga with @get_repost ・・・ Breath-control (pranayma) has been central to practice of yoga since the earlier descriptions of yogic techniques. Today, the physical practice of yoga is popularly identified with bodily postures or asanas, but in pre-modern India it was breath-control that was the defining practice of physical yoga. First part of the workshop will provide a historical overview of the central place of pranayama in yoga practice. We will refer to the first mentionings and descriptions of breath control techniques in early yoga texts (from Vedas to Hathapradipika and beyond). As we will learn from these texts, the importance of pranayama is based on the notion of inextricable connection between one’s breath and mind (psychosomatics) and therefore possibility to control one’s psyche by controlling the breath. The second part of the workshop will be dedicated to a guided practice of pranayama, to experience its energetic and psychosomatic effects in one’s own body. We will explore different breathing patterns and will analyse how our current state of psyche is projected through them. We will also learn how breath can help in management of emotions. The workshop is dedicated to everyone who is interested in history of spiritual practices, understanding the human mind and personal development. Therefore, we cordially invite yoga teachers and practitioners (both beginners and experienced yogis), but also everyone who is looking for new keys to human nature. Workshop will be lead by Diana Gladka. Yoga practitioner with 10 years experience of yoga practice and 5 years of yoga teaching. Certified yoga instructor (RYT -200 Yoga Alliance; and RYT - 500 Ukrainian Federation of Yoga). Registration link in bio. Looking forward to see you there!
